Excitingly, landscaping and rehabilitation of the Canadian Creek and the large reserve area comprising over 10 acres of open space within the project site has commenced. Images below show the important works now well underway including extensive weed control (removal of Blackberry, Gorse, Hawthorn and Thistle) and earthworks providing long-term embankment stabilisation.
Existing indigenous planting along the waterway has been retained and managed to encourage natural regeneration, including retention of all dead timber for habitat. Extensive further planting of indigenous species will be undertaken in Spring.
Designed by local landscape architects Thomson Hay the reserve area features a gravel walking path, picnic shelter and seating. A unique creek crossing has been created with large sandstone stepping stones placed at each end of the creek to provide an option for pedestrians to transition from the gravel path across the creek.
Street trees and entry landscaping at the Roads will also be underway soon.
A naturally rich location, The Roads is set close to the Woowookarung Regional Park – a large haven of bushland with walking and cycling trails. Future residents at The Roads will enjoy the lifestyle afforded by a close connection with natural bushland and the open parkland spaces within the Mount Clear area.
